That is quite a statement to make in the local newspaper, isn’t it? At this point you are likely wondering, “What law did you break, Kent?” The truth is that I have broken all of them.
There is a verse in the Bible that says, “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it” (James 2:10).
Would you like to take a pop quiz? Grab some paper and a pen, and see how many of The Ten Commandments you can write from memory. Go ahead, I will wait for you…
Now take your Bible and open it to Exodus 20. There you will find the commandments listed. How many did you remember? How many have you broken?
First, the bad news: it only takes one broken law to make you a lawbreaker, and lawbreakers cannot make it into Heaven. But here is the Good News: Jesus died on the Cross to take the punishment for your sin, and then He rose from the grave. If you confess your sin and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, He will forgive you and wipe your record clean. It will be as if you never sinned, and you will have eternal life.
I broke the law, but I am going to Heaven—not because I deserve it, but because I have been forgiven.
