“I Do NOT Trust God!”

“I do NOT trust God!” is a bold statement. It is so bold that we would not say it out loud. It does come out, however. Like a rebellious child we can ‘quietly’ disobey, throw a tantrum, argue in defiance, or resent boundaries lovingly established, even by God.
This lack of trust really hurts any loving parent. Their child was birthed, fed, clothed, protected, guided and guarded in love. Responsible parenting, though not perfect, essentially says, “I love you, trust me.” Trust is earned, and they have been proven trustworthy by their responsible care.
Reality is, even the most trustworthy parents can experience a lack of trust. The child ‘bent on doing their own thing’ in attitude or action is saying, “I don’t trust your words. I don’t trust that you know what is best for me.” Their bent toward not listening continues…what a heartbreak.
Now, do you trust God? The documents of historic record (Bible) reveal a ‘track-record’ of His proven trustworthiness:
- we are a wonderful creation of God (Psalm 139:14)
- we live and have our being due to God (Acts 17:28)
- we exist due to His sovereign care (Hebrews 1:3)
- we have been bountifully blessed (James 1:17)
- He loved us though we have sinned (Romans 5:8)
- He wants to give us eternal life (John 3:16)
Do you believe God knows what is best for you? Do you trust what He said? That trust will reveal itself in obedience to His word – “This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome…” (1 John 5:3)
I believe God. I seek to have a servant’s ear that affirms: “The Sovereign LORD has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back.” (Isaiah 50:4, 5)
I have entrusted my eternal well-being to Him. I am ever learning to trust Him more through every challenge of this broken world. He has proven so trustworthy!
