Imagine that you were given the opportunity to choose permanent peace for three of the world’s time zones. Which ones would you choose?
The world will not know lasting peace until the Prince of Peace comes to reign, but when we accept Jesus as our Saviour, we enjoy His peace in three important time zones: our past, our present, and our future. Jesus gives us:
1. Peace for the PAST. When we acknowledge our sin, He forgives us for every bad thing we have ever done.
2. Peace for the PRESENT. He comforts us in our grief, and provides the courage and strength we need to face every challenge.
3. Peace for the FUTURE. We know that when this life comes to an end, we have a perfect life waiting for us in Heaven. A perfect life that will never end.
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27)
When we know the Lord Jesus, we can watch the evening news differently. We still feel compassion for those who are suffering, and we pray for those in harm’s way, but we do not need to be afraid. We can close our eyes at night and rest, knowing that our past, present, and future are in His hands.
