Thank You, Volunteers!

I have been thinking a lot lately about the wonderful volunteers that we have in our church.

As I write this, we are getting ready for our annual Church Yard and Bake Sale, to be held on Thursday to Saturday (May 15-17) from 8 AM to 1 PM each day. Our team has been working hard at receiving, organizing, pricing, and of course–baking! They don’t do it for their own benefit, or even for our church’s benefit, because the funds raised will be used to help other missions and ministries throughout the year.

This is also the time of year that we nominate people for the various committees and offices of our church. Unlike me, who receives a paycheck for what I do at the church, they all volunteer their time and energy, and yet they work as faithfully as if they were getting paid.

The Bible says, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers of the churches in our community. We pastors could not do our work without you doing your work. Thank you for serving the Lord Jesus–our one and only Saviour–who is the Head of the Church and the reason we do what we do.

If you come to our sale please say hello to our friendly volunteers, and if they look tired it’s because they have been working heartily for the Lord.
