Bible Verse of the Day

Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.

We Reap What We Sow

Did you plant a garden this year? If you did, I imagine you put great thought into what seeds to plant, and based your choices on the vegetables you would like to eat this coming harvest season.

We are not farmers, but we live on a farm and we love to watch God’s miracle of growth in the field around our home. Every year, our friends who own the field tell us what crop will grow there, and every time they are correct. That is because they sow the particular kind of seed for the harvest they want to reap.

The Bible says, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)

If we sow seeds of anger, bitterness, greed, and dishonesty, those are the things that will grow in our lives, but there is a much better option available.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, His Holy Spirit comes to live in us and grow the character of Christ in us. The Apostle Paul referred to this as the fruit of the Spirit, which he defined by nine qualities in Galatians 5:22-23. They are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

If this describes the kind of life you would like to reap in the future, then sow your seeds of faith and trust in Jesus today.
