Did you ever wish that you could sell your brother or sister? The Bible tells us about a young man named Joseph who was sold into slavery by his older brothers who hated him. (You can read his story in Genesis 37-50.)
He was taken to Egypt, and through an amazing series of God-ordained events he became the prime minister of the land, second only to Pharaoh. Giving him the wisdom to interpret the king’s dreams, God used Joseph to help the world survive a famine.
The international food shortage brought Joseph’s brothers to Egypt, where they were shocked to find their little brother alive and in charge. They were terrified that he would now settle the score, but Joseph treated them with kindness and spoke words of forgiveness to them. He said, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good…” (Genesis 50:20).
Joseph exemplifies the truth of Romans 8:28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” This promise is for the friends of God, who have accepted His Son Jesus as their Saviour.
Not everything that happens in life is good, but God will bring good out of everything if we love Him. Are you going through a rough time right now? Dear friend, please don’t give up! Trust the Lord, and know that all is not lost. God is working for your good.
