Bible Verse of the Day

Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.

It Is Time to Rest

Are you tired? It is time to rest.

You are probably thinking, “I can’t rest right now; I have too much to do.” But did you hear yourself? You just admitted that there is “too much” on your To-Do List.

I am not advising you to shirk your duties; it is important to keep the commitments we make, but it is also important that we don’t take on more than we can reasonably handle. Society makes heroes of the over-achievers, but they are often the ones who suffer burnout, ruin their health, and damage their families.

When we practice a healthy balance of work and rest, we follow the example of our Creator. The Bible says that God took six days to create the world, and then He rested on the seventh day. He did not rest because He was tired. God does not get tired. He rested because His work was done, and it was “very good” (Genesis 1:31).

We need physical rest for our bodies, and we need spiritual rest for our souls. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). This rest comes to those who repent of their sins and accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. He came to earth to do the work of saving us, and from the Cross He declared, “It is finished.”

You will not get to Heaven by expanding your To-Do List, but only by trusting in the One who completed the “very good” work on your behalf. Will you come now to Jesus? It is time to rest.
